The Clorox Company is the recipient of the 2009 H.E.R. Award, an annual accolade of achievement from the Marketing to Moms Coalition. Recognizing companies that honor, empower and respect mothers through products and marketing campaigns, this award is given annually in honor of Mother’s Day by the nonprofit industry organization.  “Most people realize that moms buy the bulk of all products and services in this country, but few companies engage them in a compelling way,” said Bridget Brennan, a founding member of the Coalition and author of the forthcoming book, Why She Buys: The New Strategy for Reaching the World’s Most Powerful Consumers. “Clorox is being honored across a number of fronts: product development, creative execution and messaging, cause-marketing initiatives and integrated outreach to moms through a variety of media.”  Nominations for the HER Award were collected over the past several weeks, and a group of 500 moms from across the country selected the final winner. Specifically, Clorox was cited for initiatives surrounding the Clorox Green Works brand, as well as campaigns supporting Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.  “We are honored to accept this award from the Marketing to Moms Coalition,” said Mary O’Connell, director of public relations and interactive marketing for The Clorox Company. “Especially now with so many concerns on so many levels, moms are looking for information that passes the ultimate test: is it helpful? We are proud to be recognized for our efforts in reaching this vital audience.”
